Even homes not in a designated flood zone are at risk of flooding.  Most homeowners insurance policies don’t cover costly flood damage.  Flooding waters are defined as rising waters.  Flood insurance is relatively inexpensive, although most Americans neglect to purchase flood insurance and protection. Only about one-quarter of the homes in those areas most vulnerable are insured against flood loss from flooding, according to the Federal Insurance Administration (FIA). In these areas similar to ours here in Southern New Jersey, flooding is shown to be 26 times more likely to occur than a fire during the course of a 30-year mortgage.  Flooding could be caused by storms, poor or backed up drainage systems, melting snow, or levee and dam failure.  Unfortunately, most flood events are not nationally declared disasters therefore; Federal disaster assistance cannot be relied upon.  BLG faces this potential peril head-on.  Southern New Jersey insurance needs are different than those of other sections of the country and BLG insurance specialists will analyze your specific flood insurance needs.
