The Physical Damage section is just that:  It covers accidental damage or loss to the physical state of the boat and its machinery.  This even covers sails, and all the equipment necessary to operate your boat. The best Boating Insurance policies providing “all-risk” coverage will provide benefits for all losses excluding those specifically listed. 

The Liability portion will cover your legal obligations to third parties as a result of your boating operation and ownership.  Damage to someone else’s property, loss of life or bodily injury will be covered as well as potentially containment, clean-up and disposal for which you, the boat owner, may be responsible.
