Auto Insurance Claims

On the Scene of an Accident:

• Stop immediately and check to make sure everyone is OK.
• Call 911. If there are injuries, try to give as much information as possible and stay calm. If there are no injuries, you still need to call the police. They will complete the report we need to file a claim. Make sure everyone involved stays at the scene. Provide the police with whatever information they require. Always ask the investigating officer for a copy of the police report.
• Take reasonable care to protect your car from further damage by setting up flares and calling a tow truck. If necessary, have the car towed to a repair shop. You’ll need to have BLG adjuster inspect it and appraise the damage before you order repair work to begin.

A BLG REMINDER…
Keep a pad and pencil in your glove compartment.

• Write down the names and addresses of all drivers and passengers involved in the accident.
• note the license number, make and model of each car involved
  · record the driver's license number and insurance identification of each driver.
• Record the names and addresses of as many witnesses as possible,
• Record the names and badge numbers of police officers or other emergency personnel.
• If you run into an unattended vehicle you should try to locate the owner. If you can't, leave a note with your name, address and phone number. It’s still wise to get a police report.
  

If an incident occurs, you can save time and money by knowing a few things about filing a claim with BLG…

• Know what is and isn’t covered by all of your policies before an accident occurs.
  
• If an event happens, talk to your insurance company first. Once an attorney is hired, BLG can no longer represent you in a lawsuit.
